Sloppy Sloppy Joes

We love this recipe, I got it from my sister when I finished High School. Homemade Sloppy Joes! When I first hear homemade I instantly think HARD! Well NOT THIS! This is easy "peasy!" One try of these and you will never go back to buying canned sloppy joe sauce EVER AGAIN! What's for dinner at your house tonight? Sloppy JOES! And guess what?!
This is a 30 min. meal! EVEN BETTER!

Sloppy Sloppy Joes

In a large skillet add:
2 lbs. Hamburger- Browned with a few dashes of Season All Salt, Salt & Pepper
2/3 c. Chopped Celery
2 T. Chopped Onion
(Add Celery and Onion while meat is browning to cook through)

When hamburger is close to done, drain most of the grease then add in:
1/3 c. White Vinegar
3 T. regular Mustard
1/3 c. Brown Sugar
1/2 c. (heaping) Ketchup
1/3 c. Water
2 T. Flour

Simmer all together for 20 min. You can eat it right then, or transfer to a crock pot to keep warm. This is easily doubled and tripled for large crowds.

*You can always add in more of your favorite flavor- if you like a little more zip, add more vinegar and mustard, you like it sweeter? Add in more brown sugar and ketchup. You play chef on this one!

*This is awesome to make ahead of time for a big crowd and freeze! Then the day of the dinner, you pull it out to thaw and put in a crock pot to keep warm. I have done this MANY times!

  1. I love this type of sloppy joes. They are very similar to mine but instead of the vinegar I add worcestershire sauce. I will definitely need to try the vinegar next time I make them. Thank you for sharing.
