Silk Leaf Table Runner

Want to make something fun to add to your Thanksgiving decor? How about making a textured silk leaf table runner for your feast? This was worth the work! I LOVE IT! I am not a seamstress by any means but I attempt to whip crazy things like this out every once in a while. This took some time but it was well worth it! I can't wait to show it off and for the feast to begin!

Before getting into how to make this - don't forget to check out these other AWESOME Thanksgiving ideas!

3. Silk Leaf Table Runner - Yours Truly - Cook &Craft me Crazy

Okay - Now for the Silk Leaf Table runner...

I purchased 8 packages (50 count) of single silk leaves from the dollar store.
(I know everyone will laugh at this)
I needed material- I didn't want to run to the store for some cheap material that no one would ever see, because you look at the top of the table runner- not the bottom. So I scavenged my house for something I could use. I glanced in my linen closet and spotted something wayyy up in the top- it was a bed skirt from our first comforter over 4 years ago! I totally forgot to throw it away! WELL GUESS WHAT I DID.... I took that old bed skirt and I cut the whole long side from it! It was the PERFECT width and length for my table! Ha ha ha - insanity- or genius? I can't decide...
Everyone's table is different so you can choose the length and width of the piece you will sew the leaves to.

I took the first leaf and made it overlap both top and side edge, I didn't want the cream material showing.

Continue to sew all the leaves down- over lapping one another so as little of the "under material" shows.
And go, Go, GO!

Once you've finished your first line top to bottom, and start your second - push the next leaves against your first line to add some "texture." Keep sewing and adding, sewing and adding all the way down, over and over again!

When you have done ALL of your different leaf lines it should look something like this...

I hope you love yours as much as I love mine!
